Charlotte relished the last notes floating from the grand instrument before folding her hands in her lap serenly and opening her eyes. She smiled for at the moment, she was among the happiest of women.

Charles stood up slowly opening his eyes, and he walked over to Charlotte, "Thankyou so very much."

"Not at all!" Charlotte rose and stood to stand behind the bench, even though there was enough room for two.

Charles began to press down on the keys slowly, to see which keys produced which sounds, noticing instataneously that the further up the keys he went the higher they went. Building on this he started to see what he could create with one key at a time.

Charlotte smiled. Charles, as he sat now, reminded her of a child. She loved children for just this reason, their inquisitive nature. It struck her deep down how much she wanted a child. She wanted a child almost more than she wanted life. But wasn't that just a womans nature? She smiled wistfully as she imagined a little boy with Charle's features and her love of music. What a delight he would be...

Charles had now moved on to more than one note at a time, seeing how two or three sounded together, and different spaces between them.

Charlotte walked to the side of the pianofororte where a straight backed chair sat for the musical attendant. She perched primly on the uncomfortable seat, watching Charles discover her love in music.
