"Well, then I have to thank you double for allowing me to be an audience." Charles said.

"You're very welcome, although, I must say that my sister is much more accomplished then I." Charlotte looked forlornly at the pianoforte.

"But I doubt she is as beautiful as yourself," Charles said, "And accomplishment is less of a matter as to who enjoys playing more."

"You have been out of our society quite a long time, haven't you! Accomplishment means that who ever is more so, is more likely to run a better house. That is the way society judges things. Although it makes us look like animals to show, women have no say in the matter."

"I have never truly been 'in' our society." Charles laughed, "I don't think I am even now."

Charlotte chuckled, "I suppose you are right. "

Charles smiled, "What other music do you have, or are able to play?"

"I have a bit more, what would you like to hear?"

"Of course." Charles smiled, he wondered whether to open his eyes for this performance.

Charlotte chuckled again, "I don't think that quite helps me. What would you like to hear, Charles?"

(Mis-read...)
"Something you've made yourself?" Charles asked.

Charlotte chuckled, "Oh, I am no songwriter. I don't have the flowy use of words."

(I'm tempted to do something really unrealistic... but I won't.)
"Then something that is close to your heart." Charles suggested, "I want to hear something that means something to you."

Taking a deep breath, Charlotte closed her eyes and let her fingers find the keys on their own. Again, she didn't need the sheet music. She had merely been modest when she said Maria was any better at the painoforte than she was. She let the music flow around her and take her to a peaceful state of mind. A happier time...well, almost. She was never as happy as she was when she was with Charles....but she'd think about that later, when she was alone...

Charles felt himself surrounded by the music, and let himself give in. he did not open his eyes, instead he let himself relax completely, and the emotions in the music were expressed in himself, he was happy.
