Charlotte sat on a bench looking into the flower garden. Her mother had sent her out to gather some flowers for the still room. While she was gathering flowers, her mind kept wandering back to her converstions with Charles. He was a lovely man. So good looking, to boot. Then there was Mr. William Collins, who, to her recollection, was nothing if not a stodgy old stick. Her mother and father wanted her so to marry Mr. Collins. They knew nothing of dear Charles, but they would soon if she had her way. She supposed she would marry Mr. Collins if Charles did not come to the fore with his proposal. She would have to marry Mr. Collins. A woman can't live alone in society...

Charles had decided to where Charlotte had said she lived in. The bench on which he walked her to before letting her into the house herself, not wishing to be seen. He looked up from the ground, and noticed that she was there herself, "Oh... hello Charlotte."

"I am here because I am in love with Charlotte." he said simply, "I now know that you are Mr.Collins." He bent down and whispered into Charlotte's ear, "That is why I shouldn't be here."

"I would not know how to rectify such a thing." he frowned, "But I'm sure you should not degrade me for a lack of knowledge." He took a step closer to him, and stared him straight in the eye, "However dear friend, I believe if you keep at me like this, I could degrade you on manners."
